Christmas In Our House 2015

It's the most wonderful time of the year again. December knocks so fast at our doorsteps and it's already here. So for this year, we decorated our home as we celebrate the spirit of Christmas looking like this...

This Christmas tree is in its second year with us.
Since we have a small space, we put it on top of our side table.
This tree is not that heavy so not a problem that the table might give way.
Those stuff toys are already placed there and since we don't have
Christmas base cover, we used them to cover it. Nice idea too!

When we still don't have Christmas tree, this wreath garland is the focal point of my Christmas decoration at home. It's still a work in progress as some of my old Christmas balls were detached from its string. I might buy new balls or any decor that would fit in with the wreath.  I thought of this because of the minimal space that we have. I decorated it with lights, hanged balls or any Christmas decor that is usually put in a Christmas Tree. Since we have a lot of stuff toys, I make use of it as decors because if by keeping it, it would just accumulate dust.  

      I got these Christmas stockings from Watsons. It is priced at Php57.00 each.

      The Sales Lady told me it's marked down from the original price of Php99.00 each.

      I've been looking for the longest time a Christmas stocking that is of good quality

      and so happy to have finally saw one. I'm still planning to put letters on the green-
      colored space with names of my two kids for a more personalized look.

Most of my Christmas decorations this year are already used from previous Christmases. Only these two Christmas stockings and additional Christmas LED lights are my purchases for this year. My kids are happy with what I put up. After all, Christmas is for the children and for the kid-at-heart.

Weekend Diaries with the Family

I always look forward to Sundays ever since I was a kid. Every Sunday is a family day for us. We go to church, eat out after and head to the grocery next. Up until this day, we see to it that we bring the kids out for a play in the mall or go to the school of my daughter where other families too are having outdoor activities like basketball for daddies, volleyball or badminton for the mommies and the kids just run and play in the fields with their classmates or schoolmates. I liked it that the management of my daughter's school encourage and implement this kind of activity wherein parents and kids get to know each other and bond.

I want my children to experience quality time with us, to look forward to a particular day in the week where we can do things as a family. Like me, I want them to cherish moments or activities that they do with us. It's such a heartwarming memory when they grow older they would always remember being with my parents is the best thing and place in the world.

One thing I like about bringing them out for a stroll is that
I can dress them and make them my mannequins.
Good thing I have girls. They are so cute to be dressed up.
They are growing up so fast!

Life is here in Davao! There is no place I'd rather be.

Last week, my parents celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary.
We spent it by having a simple dinner and these 3 made it
more enjoyable and memorable.

There's still more adventures to come and hopefully an out-of-the-country trip will be materialized by the end of the year or the start of the new year. It's on the planning phase as of the moment. It'll be the first for the kids and the first for us with the kids in tow. Nothing is impossible with God.

Carmen's Best: Pure Indulgence

True to its word, Carmen's Best Pure Indulgence artisanal ice cream is indeed indulgence at its finest. I've seen numerous raves about it in social media including blogposts that kept my mind glued on it until its availability reached here in Davao City and can only be bought at Echostore here and here at that time. I'm happy about it because only a step away, I'd be able to taste the much talked about homemade artisanal ice cream and gelato made available in the local market. And since it is now available in NCCC Supermarket, I couldn't be any happier! That's what I call accessibility granted!

Last Sunday, and because it's Mother's Day, I posted in my FB days before that all I want is to have this ice cream and nothing else. I cannot remember telling my husband about what I want for that day but he asked me if that ice cream I want is available in GMall Toril. No, it's not.

Honestly, I find it expensive at 450 pesos for a small tub of container. But hubby gave me money for this and his gift for me as I wished for. Why not? I splurge because it's Mother's Day! Amusing part. After the cashier punched it in the cash registry, she kept looking at the bar code and also the bagger. They were having small conversations I assume of how much it cost. I smiled at them and said that's really the price. She then said, "Does it taste good?" And I said, "It's my first time to try that too. We'll see…" 

That creamy, rich, velvety and smooth texture is sooo damn goood!!!

I must admit, having a sweet-tooth, is a bit difficult because I easily submit to every dessert and pastry that is available for me to eat. I love everything sweet! No questions about that. Of all the ice cream that I've tasted and tested (though I haven't tasted yet the Haagen Dazs or Ben & Jerry's or Dreyer's to name a few expensive ones), I love the mild sweetness, melts-in-the-mouth Mudslide flavor of Tillamook available in S&R. Now, having tried this flavor of Carmen's Best, I'll surely try out the rest of its available flavors even if I sacrifice buying other things/'wants' I want. This is what I call pampering oneself and submitting to my heart's desire. Carmen's Best is the best!

The #PopeFranciseffect in the Philippines: My Thoughts

Over the weekend, millions of Filipinos (mostly Christian Catholics) gathered in the much anticipated 5-day visit of Pope Francis in the Philippines. As early as last year, Filipinos are eagerly awaiting and preparing for his arrival. Not everyone is privileged enough to visit the Vatican City as it cost thousands of bucks to get there or to have a (if you're lucky enough) glimpse of him in the city. But with the news of the coming of the Pope, everyone was given high hopes and spirits to see him in person as a once in a lifetime experience one could get including myself. I may have a big chance to visit Rome but for the majority which is the poor, it is quite impossible. So on January 15, 2015 at around past 5 in the afternoon, everyone is in festive mood (as it is also the celebration of the feast of Sto. Niño) to welcome him. It marked the most awaited day for all Roman Catholics in the Philippines after the last time Pope John Paul II visited the country in almost a decade. Good thing that the Philippine Government declared it a long-holiday (only at the National Capital Region) for our countrymen to be able to witness and be with the Pope in this memorable event in Catholic church. I believe that it is a timely event as it is the start of the new year, to bring hope and reflection for each and everyone of us. As new year's resolutions brings guide for a better life ahead each year, Pope Francis' message at the start of the year is truly moving, inspiring, a blessing, enlightening and leave each and everyone of us feeling recharged and immensely cleansed with God's divine intervention and immeasurable love for us overflowing through Pope's presence and through each Filipino's story as told. 


A lot of opinions though came to life because of differences in religion and belief. One thing is very important over all ideals and beliefs is towards our faith. Where are we being God's shepherd here on Earth? We should be deliverers of God's Word to see, to feel and to do good for our brothers and sisters who are the less fortunate in life. We are so quick to judge, to conclude and righteous in our own beliefs, in the religion we belong and yet we are showing ungodly practices. We pray, hear mass, involved in our church's activities and yet we are the opposite of what our Lord wants us to be. The Word of God that Pope Francis shared to us is clear that we need mercy, compassion, love to be good stewards of God's heaven on Earth. Whatever religious congregation we belong, as long as we are delivering what is expected of us, then we are making our God happy. It is not about the physical statues nor the presence of human persons like Pope Francis that we worship per se, but how these saints and people that God send as medium or instruments to make us realize that God is in us, with us every step of our way. Their ways are truly inspiring and worth following. Sure, they have there own mistakes and sins, but more so they have made a big difference in serving the Lord our God in their own little ways. That we should not forget God as our Savior, our Redeemer, our Salvation in the hope when everything is faltering. The unwavering love, hope, compassion and mercy is what Pope Frances emphasizes God wants us to remember and put to heart. It is not God equals Pope Francis but like God, Pope Francis wants us to be aware that we should not lose hope, lose faith and lose ourselves for God is right there. 


I believe that one must also respect one's religious belief. If you are serving the Lord in ways that He wants you to see, feel and do, then you are in the right path. No need to argue about who's better. It is just sad that people are so into religion where in fact religion does not save you. It's your faith and your character will define how you are to our Creator, our Redeemer and Savior. In parting words, I hope that with the visit of Pope Francis we are touched with the message it delivered. It's some sort of a retreat that we have reflected upon, come to terms with ourselves to our Lord and how God has touched our soul, our heart and mind silently. #popefrancisPH

"Ber"-ry Excited for the Holiday Season

September steps in and for us Filipinos, the long holiday season and celebration countdown begins. Yesterday we went mall-ing with the family, and the National Bookstore branch in SM City Davao has displayed Christmas decors and trees already. As a child and up till now, the Christmas season always bring delight and cheer to my heart like a kid. It never fades. It always amazes me. Maybe because we had the best Christmas celebrations my parents and family had contributed in me. I will see to it that my kids will experience the same or more joy and excitement I had. More than the celebration, the material gifts, the sumptuous food, the abundance of everything, I'll make sure that they will know the spirit of what Christmas brings: The joy and love when shared with the loved ones, reuniting with so much laughter and merriment around not any material thing could ever replace.

August is the Best!

I AM CLAIMING IT like it's gonna be all positive and the way I want it to be. Being assuming at times isn't that bad at all. It's just a matter of embracing good vibes and karma so that everything will follow accordingly. The start of the month gave us a reason to look forward to the coming days. Not to mention that this month has 3 declared holidays which means no work for a working parent like me, thus, more quality time with my kids. You might wonder why there are 3 instead of 2. The 3rd declared holiday is for Davaoeños ONLY. It is the month where we celebrate the Kadayawan sa Dabaw. It is our 29th year and considered the "Festival of festivals" as we feast the abundance Mother Nature has gifted our City. In every street, you see bountiful harvest of fruits being sold at a very affordable price. This is because there is a plentiful of supply of fruits from the region. I am lucky because my husband's family own a vast land because of my MIL's blood line (she's a Bagobo). And because they love farming (and hubby) too, we have generous rations of fruits from the fruit-bearing trees they planted, namely: durian, lanzones, mangosteen, rambutan, avocado and banana. For this alone are the reason why I will never leave my hometown. We have everything in here where urban cities don't have: peace, no heavy traffic, no excessive pollution, great climate, richness of soil for agriculture, nature, beach, clean water, laid back life and much more. 


The next reason why I'm so thrilled with August is it's my sister and my grandfather's birthday. Me and my family/relatives (at my father's side) is excited to spend an overnight trip to the beach this time at Mahan Garden Resort in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS). It's the second grand reunion we always have next to Christmas. Another thing that I look forward to this month is the wedding of my former officemate. What makes it exciting for me is this will be my first time to wear a long dress/gown being the theme is formal. Normally, when I go to formal events, I'd wear a knee-length dress. It never goes beyond that. For me, I feel wearing a long dress makes me look like all the more petite having a 5'0 height. Or is it just my belief? Anyways, I'm still in the hunting stage of that long dress I'm gonna wear. By the way, what's a good design for a petite frame like me? Any suggestions?


Last but definitely not the least, this month will reveal something me and my hubby are planning for. I will not preempt anything yet as we are still in the verge of that suspenseful waiting in vain situation. This is why I am very hopeful and feeling blessed this month because with this I am grateful already to God because of the many opportunities He has bestowed me and my loved ones. There may be downs but it's part of the essence of life. God directs everything in our lives. Whether it will happen or not, I will still be thankful because I know God has a reason and purpose for everything that will happen.

Today marks my 35th year in existence. Thank you Lord for all the things and people you have blessed me. Thank you Almighty God for the gift of good health, family and friends. Thank you for my job, for giving me such an inspiring, humble and kind-hearted bosses. I couldn't ask for more. And thank you Lord in advance for the forthcoming blessings you have destined for me to have and to be. All these I pray in Jesus name, Amen...


Thank you also Google for this surprise birthday greetings as I opened to check my emails today. When I saw the birthday cake and candles, I wondered who's also celebrating what. It's such a timely event same with my birthdate knowing Google they always have this animation in relation to the present events going on around the world. And to my delight, when I incidentally pointed my cursor to the photo, it's for me pala! Oh wow! I wonder if you can view it too in your screen. Or it's just me? Teehee...

A Father's Day Celebration

How was your Sunday like guys? For sure, yesterday was a truly memorable day to celebrate and honor the day with our fathers. I'm pretty sure you had an extraordinary day too celebrating it like dining out or just simply in the house with all of you complete. As for some Dads who are away from their loved ones, the social media or technology didn't make it too far away, right? Traditionally, my family celebrate special occasions, like Father's Day, by gathering and dine together. There's nothing more grandiose as long as we are complete whether outside or just at home. Normally, we gather at my parental's house. But for this occasion, we chose to dine out and have our lunch at Lyndon's World's Worst Ribs and Awful Chicken along Lanang, Davao City. Why we chose to dine here? Nothing specific really. It just popped out in my mind while rolling my mind where to eat. For a change, me and my sister don't want to feast in the mall where we know it's too crowded and a lot of people flock there especially because of the occasion. Second, we want a little privacy. We have 3 toddlers in tow, so we want a bit of free space where they can run their hearts out without worrying they might get lost and still can enjoy our eating pleasure. Third, we knew the food is great there especially their tender and flavorful pork ribs. Their "worst ribs" slogan is just an attention grabber but it's the exact opposite. Their chicken though is not that awful but the taste is just okay. Nothing worth bragging about unlike their ribs. What we have ordered worth trying is their grilled Vietnamese Lapu-Lapu. Tender and juicy it is. 


After our hearty and satisfying lunch, we headed to SM Lanang Premier to kill time and do our grocery. Indeed, we feast our eyes on those vintage cars displayed in the Atrium. There I saw sleek Porsche and other luxury sports cars. While 'wasting' our time there which we really enjoyed albeit tired because of 3 toddlers running and chasing around, personnel from the mall handed out cookies to the men of the our lives (my father, my gandfather and my hubby). He got this cute cookie treat.

Truly, you are the best father because you always do your best to provide for us in the best way you know how. You always 'abuse' your hands every weekend tilling the soil while farming for the future of your children and, you always say, for a more comfortable lifestyle later on. I just wish 'Pop' (that's what I call my hubby sometimes) that we are not wishing for a richer life but a simple yet comfortable life with a quality time with you. Thank you for  having the desire to give us the quality of life. We pray that God will bless you good health always. This goes too for my Papa Dodong (my father) and Lolo Gerun (my grandfather). Ate (older sister), me and Rom wish you longer and healthy life ahead so that you will enjoy your grandchildren (the Tres Marias and the only boy, coming soon!). Happy Father's day too, Bro! We are super ka-duper excited for the coming of the only thorn among the roses. Thank God for the 3 (or make it 4) men in my life!

Amazing February!

The Love month is about to bid as farewell in 5 days. Honestly, I love how time flies so fast because of a long time dream my hubby is planning for the two of us. Anyway, we are still praying and wishing for that this year to happen. And my hubby is positive about it! Well, let's see... So much about this month that I feel so much blessed and loved because of the so many things that happened and still about to take place. Indeed the Love month didn't fail. And as always, it brought so much special events that is meaningful and extra special next to the Yuletide Season.

These are the Valentine giveaways which I told you guys that kept me busy after the holidays. I'm glad that the girls loved the treats. (Cappuccino bars, tea bags, my zodiac sign mug and a rose)

After which, we had dinner with my hubby and went out for coffee afterwards.
I didn't get flowers and chocolates or a special gift from him,
but time spent is more than any material thing can give.

We attended a Christening from an officemate who is a proud granny.
What a wonderful month to welcome a new member in the Christian world. 

Next, these two cousins are celebrating their birthdays, 2 days apart from each other.
They turned 3.
(Flashback: I gave birth 2 days before my older sister. Parang pinlano na sabay kaming magbuntis.
Amazing! The room that I occupied was the same room my sister occupied too after giving birth. Good thing because my baby was extended in the nursery due to Jaundice so I was able to stay in the same room with my sister with no additional charge from the hospital, hehehe...)

These are the separate celebrations we had for the birthday girls.

Tomorrow is another birthday (children's) party we'll be attending to be held at Jollibee. I love children parties now as I appreciate it even more when I already have my own kids. I enjoy seeing my kids happy. And come Friday is another birthday celebration to be hosted by my boss. See? February for me is all about merry-making and fun. The Apple of my Eye turned 3

Now that you're officially 3 years old anak, I thank God for giving us the privilege to be your family. Your papa and me, your mama, alongside baby Nique will always be here for you and we'll always be together until God knows when.

and for cheering up the whole place in our house.

Thank you Mariella for genuinely loving us in your simple yet most heartfelt gestures.
We are so proud as your parents whenever everybody cuddles and praises

I pray to God that as time pass by, when you have your own life to choose,
I still wish that papa and mama can borrow a little time from you

And when your papa and mama is not around anymore, I pray and wish
that you and your baby sister Nique will be there for each other,
loving and supporting each other. Take care of each other and you have to be
a good older sister to Nique, ha?

With all the abundance around you, may you use it wisely and selflessly.

Soon you will learn to dream, aspire and wish on your own,
may you always call on to God for everything your heart desires and not.

And for every dream, aspirations and wishes you have in your life,
I wish and pray for it as well. Blowing candles every year on your birthday means

Valentine's treat by Euro Baker

Wow! Can't believe Valentine's day is tomorrow and this post of mine is 6 days late. I haven't tracked the time huh! That's fast. Anyway, you still have 2 days I guess to catch up on this. Last February 8, 2014, Euro Baker in Gaisano Mall (GMall) of Toril opened for the public and I loved that it opens at the same time as the grocery of GMall which is 8 o'clock in the morning. Hmm! What surprised us during we visited last Sunday is that as their Valentine treat to their walk-in customers, whenever you order a cup of brewed coffee, you get the mug for FREE! Yes, it's yours. I was delighted more since it's the Love season, they had their mugs in hearts where you can choose two designs of their mugs. We had this two as our mugs. It's just the other design is out of stock already. 

If I'm not mistaken their brewed coffee is worth 50.00 pesos. Since I asked mine to have milk, the total bill we got is 115.00 pesos. But I don't mind because their serving of the fresh milk is generous enough and their sugar is not the plain one but it's mascuvado sugar they 're using. I love Euro Baker. I love their generous serving and I loved their spaghetti bolognese ever since. Even in GMall in Davao, if I'm craving for some french food and pasta, I'd straight away proceed to their quaint resto. Aside from bread, they have a wide array of meals to choose from. Me and my hubby are now looking forward to do our early grocery as early as 8 in the morning to start our day here in Euro baker, to eat breakfast with leisure. Isn't it exciting to have a different environment while taking the first meal of the day together with your love one? Lol. #valentines2014 #eurobaker #gmalltoril

February is Love and Giving

How fast time flies the second time. I can't stop saying this because it's indeed true like a roller coaster thing. Now it's the Love month and just yesterday we celebrated the Chinese New Year where we welcome the year of the wood horse. Everything just happens in a fast forward pace but still the season of giving is not yet over. We all know that February is the month of Valentine's day wherein we Filipinos celebrate it for the sake of love which really means a lot for us. And I think because we really are loving people, the gesture of celebrating it comes naturally within us. Like the Christmas season, a lot of establishments mostly malls and restaurants decorate its place with hearts and playing love songs in their sound systems. Isn't it heartwarming? Because Love signifies giving, we also think of gifts to give our love ones. Thus, we see vendors selling flowers and stuff to give to the love of our lives which I find really cute and mushy in an endearing way... ;-)

This month excites me because of 3 things. Well first, it's Valentine's day. Me and my hubby makes it a point to have a fancy dinner. It's just a once in a year occasion where we make a deal to dress elegantly and dine NOT just in any budget friendly restaurant. We look for a fine-dining restaurant where we haven't eaten in there yet. Now we changed plans. We planned to have a stay-cation in a hotel just within the city. It's the in thing now and we vow not to bring the kids with us. Just me and him alone. We want to hang around and be in each others arms without the kids getting our undivided attention from each other. It's kind of mushy though but in reality, married couples need this and I believe in that too. My hubby is not very vocal but he really frequently verbalizes it that I don't have time for him anymore. I know he understands because there are 2 kids that needs my utmost attention. But being a wife I should give him what is due for him. True girls? It's the time that we can spend quality time with each other and just recharge and renew away from our everyday routine.

The second thing that looks me forward to this month is our Valentine's day giveaways here in our office. Years back, the owner of the company where I'm working now, who is also my boss, gives chocolates and Valentine's tokens to single ladies. But now, every girl, single or married, gets one. What excites me is I am in charge of planning what to give for every single lady in the office. This part makes it exciting for me since I'll be getting one of it, I search for the best stuff. Months ahead, as early as Christmas season, I'm already dreading on thinking for possible giveaways. Challenging yet fun huh! Everything is all worth it especially if you see the ladies giggling as they receive their presents. Flowers and chocolates are girl's BFF same with diamonds too. Agree!?

Paperweight

For this item, we just customized it. We bought wooden clips and glued it at the back of the "Guardian Angel on duty" sign. This serves as a double purpose now. A memo holder cum paperweight. Below, we added the caption "Happy Heart's Day!" to fit the occasion. This is a good way to hone and play one's creativity that's why I enjoy doing this annually. Last year our giveaways were envirosax bags which we got from Daiso and assorted brownies from the Fudge Factory. With the help of my ever crafty and visually gifted officemate, the giveaways makes it more alive, presentable and meaningful. Check out her blog here.

The last reason of my love for this month is my daughter's birth month. I never knew the genuine meaning of love until the birth of my first child. All the more I appreciate the meaning of giving, unconditional love, sacrifice and looking at my kid's needs first than mine are all worth it because my great joy are their happiness and comfort.

Welcome Year of the Green Wooden Horse, 2014!

How time flies super fast. The month of January is ending tomorrow and we'll be welcoming the New Year in Chinese way...;-) (I don't know what I mean about that, tee hee..) and the day after tomorrow is yet another month, February. Oh the love month! I'm so excited about that.

Anyhow, what are you guys planning for tomorrow's declared holiday? As for me, though we don't practice it every year, but for this year I feel like celebrating it for the sake of the occasion and for the horse (hahaha! whatever!). Even if it's not mine or my hubby or any of my kids animal year (but for my older sister born in the year 1978, it's her year), I might as well give it a try. One thing that kept me thinking about celebrating it is what to feast on our table. I would love to buy tikoy (sticky rice) for a change and then hopia from Eng Bee Tin, or I would whip the No-Bake Blueberry Cheesecake recipe of Mommy Michelle of My Mom-Friday, or try a crispy tofu recipe which I longed to cook for a while now. I'd love to cook a noodle recipe too which I recently love cooking because of the quality of the noodle we got from my hubby's officemate. For fruits, I think the soursup (guyabano) will do the trick since it has all the nutrients one can get from the many fruits available. We have that one at home now, avocados and bananas will be our fruits in our table. It's as simple as that. What's important is to welcome the new year with new beginnings, hopeful tomorrows and a positive outlook for 2014.

Oh by the way, I said it's a green wooden horse because I saw and heard in the television that Jade is the lucky stone this year. Well, Jade stone is said to be green and that's it! Happy Chinese New Year or 'Kiong Hee Huat Tsai' (Hokkien) or 'Gong Xi Fa Cai' (Mandarin) and 'Gong Hey Fat Choy' (Cantonese). Notice my greetings instead of the usual Kung Hei Fat Choi that we normally see in ads? Here's why. Now I know why. But nevertheless we mean the same thing but to properly address it to Filipino Chinese, we need to correct it. Enjoy a long weekend everyone!

Every little girl knows who Hello Kitty is. She's that adorable pussy cat that captures little girls' hearts. Not just the little ones but even adult girls couldn't resist her charm. I remember back then, I collect stuff that has Hello Kitty, Melody and Little Twin Stars on it. Up to this day, I still find them adorable and cute. At my daughter's first birthday party which I blogged about it here and here, I didn't think of any other character but Hello Kitty only for my little girl's theme decorations. Searching for the party favors and decors was quite a breeze because of Jollibee and party suppliers for a Girl's Birthday Party that made it easy for me to find the things I need for the event. For the giveaways, I had Hello Kitty tumblers, utensils, plate and hanky for the girls and Batman apparels for the boys like pencil case, ID string and writing supplies. Some of the decorations were provided by Jollibee. However, the piñata should have been a Hello Kitty which should look like this. But we ran out of time looking for a Hello Kitty piñata hence the Dora the Explorer piñata was what we used.

Overall it was a successful birthday event that up to now I am happy of what took place. Christmas Holidays 2013 and the New Year 2014

This has been the longest I have not aired anything in my blog. It's been disappointing to me because my page rank moved down to 1 from the previous 2. But nevertheless the holidays brought so much joy, realizations and a breath of hope for the coming year to me that is fulfilling and incomparable. It's been a roller coaster ride for me and everything in that span of 2 weeks it's like I was pressed fast forward that at the end of the day it is just too tiring yet fulfilled looking back my activities for the day. For one, both my helpers at home were in holidays too. We decided to let them go and celebrate the holidays with their loved ones back in their respective province. Most of the people would say why we allowed it. It would be too difficult in our part because of manning the kids. Who would help us take care of them and doing the household chores. If I think of it, it's not a good idea really because it's physically and emotionally draining. But somehow, a part of me and that I was accustomed to growing up, being with the family at Christmas and the New Year is the best time to be with the loved ones. I grew up loving the holidays because it's merry-making and reunion time with my family and relatives especially that some of my relatives are living outside Davao City and it's always the season I am looking forward to coming until now that I have my own children to enjoy the joy I experienced. I want my helpers to experience the same thing because they are still young and we don't want to deprive the same happy feeling even if their own families has different stories to tell; for one they have broken families. They celebrate Christmas with their families with their relatives. And second, it's the only time of the year they get to go home except if there are emergencies back home. I got so many stories to tell about their holidays which they share with us when they got back from their long vacation. From their stories, I realized I feel blessed to have a complete family even if it is not perfect. I feel lucky that my parents let us experience the best holiday celebration materially, emotionally and spiritually. I feel blessed because we are able to buy the stuff we need and want. I feel blessed because my family is in good shape. I feel blessed and fulfilled because spending every single day with my children is worth the time despite being tired of looking after them. It is at that moment where I got to enjoy fully my kids and no mama is going to work. That is what my almost 3 year old daughter told me, mama office? And most importantly, I feel blessed because I am able to give back to others the blessings that I receive for the year it was. Christmas is a time for giving, sharing, thanksgiving and being with the company of loved ones.

For this new year, I am hoping for more positive and good things to happen than the negative or bad ones. I still pray and wish for goodness of health especially that at the beginning of this new year, my two kids are down with flu and fever. I still wish the two of them well. They are under medication now and hopefully the fever they are getting is due to flu and not because of anything worst like dengue. Third, I pray and wish for prosperity. Fourth, I pray and wish that God will protect my marriage and my family from harm and bad elements. Fifth, may we continue having good friendships and find new ones like what happened to me and @mommyjuvs. She's a warm person not to mention she is really beautiful in the outside. I'll make another post for our first time meet-up. I'll look forward for your coming back here hopefully with your family. And lastly, I pray and wish for a good year for my blog, whatever it will be.

Holidays and the Panic-buying mode

The long weekend is over and the right moment to start looking forward to the Christmas season after the much anticipated Halloween and Trick or Treat celebrations is already here. Traditionally, Halloween and Trick or Treat events is not very much celebrated here in our country.  Unlike in other countries, here in the Philippines, it is more on commemorating our departed ones who have gone ahead of us. It is normally celebrated by going to the cemetery where they are buried and offer prayers for them. Now that I have my own kids, I enjoy the Trick or Treat celebrations that is widely and is starting to kick off here in the Philippines. I'm now looking forward to every Halloween celebrations because it makes the kids happy by just getting treats and by dressing very cute and not so scary costumes for the little ones.

Anyways, have you started to decorate your homes for the Yuletide season? For me, I haven't done it yet. I'm looking forward to decorating this weekend. For our household, we decided not to put up yet a Christmas tree mainly because my kids are still in their toddler years. The tree might end up dismantled or out of form before the Christmas time approaches. So to spruce up and feel the spirit of Christmas, I just put decorative Christmas pieces like socks and hats at our bedroom door and put a Christmas wreath in our living area adorned with lights and decors. It still is very nice and it won't occupy space in our little abode. Another thing that I'm looking forward too, excites me the most and adds a little pressure on me is 'shopping for the holidays' bring. Not so much of a bad pressure because shopping is No stressful (I enjoy and LOVE the 'stress' it brings) unless it's a hurried one and you don't have any idea on what to give. I know you're feeling the same as mine. Thinking of stuff to give for this particular person is definitely one brain wrecking thing especially if you do the holiday shopping rush. Not only this brings a head ache and body aches (you know what I mean) but more so on the time wasted and the unnecessary spending it entails. So to make it easier for me, as early as now (for some they made a little shopping as early as October), I made a list on who to give and what to give. That's my first step. It eases me a bit seeing my list because I categorized it. I started with the immediate family, relatives and friends. I have ideas in mind what to give for some even if I haven't completed it yet. But that's okay at least, I won't be cramming that much. By doing this, you'll have a smooth shopping spree and it won't waste your time looking for what item to give. It's easier, faster and convenient when you know what items to buy. Another shopping option is purchasing online. This is very easy, reliable, convenient and stress-free because you just select what item to buy right in your own nest. Actually, I just ordered na for Christmas presents (hehehe). It's also good to buy in bulk so you can make use of the flat rate in shipping fee for a number of items already. I'm so excited for the real shopping experience to happen. For an employee like me, the partial 13th month pay is in less than 15 days from now. I'm sure the malls are packed by that time for Christmas shopping and some are have a 'sale' going on.

I'm not in a panic mode now. But the buying I guess is still panicky. Crossing my fingers that I'd be able to fully complete my Christmas gift shopping before December starts. We are suppose to attend a Trick or Treat event but to some unforeseen event, we are not pushing through. The mother that I am got excited because it's suppose to be the very first Trick or Treat event that my kids will be attending. Sigh! I am very certain that they will have loads of fun sana. For a short span of notice I was able to find clothes for them to wear. I'm that excited. You know! And tadah! Thinking of what might be a good Halloween costume for the kiddos, with my finds I know they will be...

Jollibee/Jollitown/Hello Kitty themed Birthday: Party Kids Giveaways

As promised, I'd be sharing to you the party kids giveaways during my daughter's first birthday celebration. I love the Hello Kitty giveaways of Jollibee that's why I never thought of getting other than this. It's very cute and the quality of the items seem to be a good one. Even myself, I find it using them. How much more for the little girls who find Hello Kitty such a cute dainty kitten. The party hats I also included because I find it very nice too. #childhoodmemories 

For the little boys, I chose their batman giveaways. It includes a pencil case with crayons, pencil and eraser inside. Then there's also an ID together with a sling. I find this very useful too.

Feeling Blessed, Amazed and Overwhelmed: Birthday Bash a Success

Finally, it is over and it was one blast of a party! For just a short time, we were able to pull off and more, my daughter's first birthday celebration. I am very happy of the outcome though some that were planned and thought about were not materialized because of unexpected circumstances that we lacked enough time. But still, I am glad because not only the kids enjoyed, but even the young at heart. My decision to DIY the decors is a huge success and almost everybody loved what we did. I am very lucky to have a mother who is supportive of my wanting to DIY the theme and decors for the event. My mom is hats off, hands on meticulous to every detail and made such brilliant ideas on my planned layout. I am so happy with every detail that was presented. Until now, I feel that I'm still on cloud 9, still having the sting of that night's celebration. #1stbirthday #proudmama #feeling-elated 

I know I've been talking a lot and for sure you are frantically waiting for some photos. But since I'm the host, and I wasn't able to take shots of the events. I relied everything to my family and relatives who took their useful cameras and take shots as the event transpired. I requested them to send me raw copies of the photos for souvenir. Even me, I'm very excited to see real shots of the happy celebration.

I decided to make it like this so as not to follow the usual making of tarpaulin with my child's face and birthday details on it. It is too common. What I did is I recycled the tarpaulin (which you can see through). It was from my first daughter's 1st birthday. I used the back part of it.

I didn't mind that the print at the back can be seen because it is an evening event. For sure, you won't see any shadow of the back part coming from the ray of light outside by night as the lights from within gives a certain effect on it. My inspiration for the tarpaulin is from the catalogue of 101gramsofeyecandy and for the flowers on the glass from Ms. Ging of fortyweeksandthensome. The masks I incorporated are extra supplies from my eldest first birthday. I didn't know it would make a great show.

See that balls/pompoms from above? That came from an inspiration again from Ms. Ging of fortyweeksinthensome. She's very creative and I love her dainty pieces (Link here on how to do it).

Okay. That jar on top of the tables are my mom's product of idea. She alternately put the name of my girl and then a slogan of 'It's a party' from the stock board. We bought the It's a Party cut out from National Bookstore. Cute noh! She filled the empty glass bottles of sardines with decorative stones. Good idea too so that the table covers won't run and fall. I don't know where she got the idea. So apologies if there are other who did the same thing. Maybe it's just a coincidence.

To date, I haven't started unwrapping my daughter's gifts. I'm excited actually to come home now for some cute surprises for my little one! *wink*

These loots are from my aunt based in Canada. This is one timely event as many blessings are showered in time for my daughter's first birthday. I'm floored, humbled and #blessed.

I am very happy because I got a lot of compliments of the whole celebration. This won't happen if not for my husband, my family and God Almighty. They are my movers and shakers. They made this possible.
